New Sounds, New Artists, New Wave

Under The Influence presents NEW WAVE, a brand new one-day music festival of the UK’s most exciting rising acts.

“We wanted to build something that felt fresh, forward-thinking, and fan-focused,” said Dean Shakespeare, founder of NEW WAVE. “Every artist on this bill is on the cusp of something big — and this is your chance to say you saw them first.”

Headlining are Manchester indie-rock heroes The Covasettes, whose infectious energy, festival-ready choruses, and a slew of acclaimed singles have earned them a devoted fan base and sold-out shows across the country.

LINEUP
The Covasettes
The Covasettes’ time spent living together in Manchester allowed them to hone in on their signature indie sound, comprising frontman Chris Buxton’s heartfelt lyrics and melody, guitarist Matt Hewlett’s infectious riffs, drummer Matt Buckley’s rock-inspired grooves and bassist/producer Jamie McIntyre’s pop production sensibilities. Their recent tour sold 3500 tickets over 11 dates around the UK and delivered their best live shows to date, thanks to a run of festivals in the U,K including Truck, Tramlines and YNot as well as the band’s first European festival in the Netherlands.

Brogeal
Melting together indie rock and traditional Celtic folk, Brògeal are a Falkirk-based five-piece who are set for a breakout year in 2024. Forming in Falkirk out of the ashes of high school bands, Brògeal came together over their love of Scottish and Irish folk music, punk and garage rock, adding banjo and mandolin to electric guitars, finding their own unique voice on the way. The last twelve months has seen the band emerge as one of the best live bands in the UK, touring with the likes of The Mary Wallopers, Spector and The Lathums.

O’Phantom
Yorkshire-based alt-indie ghost collective O’Phantom draw inspiration from the rugged and isolated northern landscapes that surround them. Their sound is a captivating blend of melancholic self-reflection, Cure-esque songwriting sensibilities, and Broadcast-inspired synth textures.

Keyside
Liverpool four-piece play pristine jangle-pop of powerful substance. With lyrics evidencing a social conscience that goes deeper than their uplifting melodies might suggest, frontman Dan Parker’s nuanced songcraft will charm you as surely as his golden lilt.

Signed to Merseyside label Modern Sky UK (Jamie Webster, Miles Kane) and championed by BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, KEYSIDE aren’t just the hottest-tipped group of their generation – they’re your new favourite band.

Florentenes
Florentenes are a powerhouse four-piece making waves in the UK music scene, having already hit the road with Jamie Webster, The Royston Club, and Sundara Karma. Known for their electrifying blend of Arctic Monkeys’ grit, Pink Floyd’s conceptual qualities, and The Kooks’ indie charm, the band is fronted by the magnetic William Smith, alongside guitarist Luke Holding, bassist Harry Stubbs, and drummer Liam Fiddy.

The North
Four-piece band hailing from Leeds, a refreshingly, thrilling and hard-hitting indie-rock band with a sprinkle of punkiness.

Wrkhouse
One of Amazing Radio’s tips for 2025, four-piece Welsh alternative indie-rock band known for their atmospheric and melodic alt-pop sound, blending groove-heavy guitars and drums with gliding melodies

Vincent’s Last Summer
Somewhere between the northern market towns of Bury and Bolton, Vincent’s Last Summer can often be found throwing a party in their living room. Fusing poetic, post-punk lyrics pertaining to money, class and living in a contemporary Britain with an indie sleaze aesthetic and bouncy, fun instrumentals. Enjoy your stay in 2008!
